Galway maintain Minor dominance

THE numbers behind Galway's 12th All-Ireland minor title success make for impressive reading; 70-odd pitch sessions, 40 gym sessions, 90 players initially pitching up for training last January.
By March, Jeffrey Lynskey was still working off a swollen panel in the mid-50s and felt the group pull together tightly one freezing evening training by the sea.
Heavy snow during the worst of the spring cold snap had covered the county in a deep white blanket.
Lynskey and his two kids grabbed three shovels and attempted to clear the snow off an astro turf pitch for training at the Liam Mellows grounds but soon gave in as one of the children concluded, 'Dad, this is lunacy'.
Determined to press ahead with a session that evening, the thought occurred to Lynskey that nearby Ballyloughane beach could serve the same purpose.
