Dublin top scorer Con O'Callaghan breaks through.

Dublin a class ahead of Galway

IF you have to exit a championship campaign, there is no shame in arguably the greatest team to ever play the game being the ones to put you to the sword.
The current Dublin crop are a once in a generation outfit and while you can analyse systems, errors, changes and many other aspects post-game, the simple fact remains, the reigning champions were simply a better side than their Galway opponents and it’s very difficult to envisage any inter-county side being able to put a halt to their gallop in the near future.
Galway battled bravely in the first half and when Eamonn Brannigan stood over a penalty on the 12th minute, the opportunity to give his side a much-needed, confidence-boosting three-point lead was there for the taking. Unfortunately, the St Michael’s clubman’s penalty lacked real conviction and was saved by Dublin captain Stephen Cluxton.
From that point, Jim Gavin’s side absorbed the challenge for the remainder of the half and went in at half-time holding a two-point advantage.
