Funeral of inspiring Milltown man takes place today

TRIBUTES have been paid to Milltown man John Walsh who passed away this week after an almost 20-year battle with ill health. The 42-year-old author and father of three published his story of an inoperable brain tumour in his 2016 book, Headcase. He was first diagnosed with the rare condition while living in Germany in 2000.
The book documented his successive surgeries and treatments alongside family life as he met and married his wife Edel. His lifelong devotion to Galway GAA also featured strongly in the book that was the first of two he published in the past three years.

John is survived by his wife Edel, children Firínne, Ríain and Saorla, mother Carmel, twin sister Cathy, brother Padraic, sisters Linda, Laura and Alma and extended family. Requiem Mass for John will be celebrated today (Wednesday) at 12 noon at St Joseph's Church, Milltown with burial afterwards in Kilgevrin Cemetery.
