IND Shaun Cunniffe watches the tally

Sheridan polling well in home turf

WITH only a third of the boxes from the Tuam electoral area opened and tallied, initial indications are positive for Fianna Fail’s Joe Sheridan.

However, many of the boxes opened so far are in his home territories around Dunmore and Milltown and he isn’t polling as well in Tuam town centre.

Former TD FF Colm Keaveney is seeing support in Tuam town while FG’s Tom McHugh is seeing votes coming from several areas.

Independent Shaun Cunniffe has taken just 300 first preferences out the four of the nine boxes in Tuam town. It’s expected he will gather more votes when these are opened.

The area has reduced from nine seats to seven and the overall picture will change considerably once boxes in other areas such as Headford, Caherlistrane and Belclare are opened.
