A GLENAMADDY schoolboy has been honoured for his voluntary work at the 2019 Pramerica Spirit of Community Awards, the only All-Ireland youth initiative of its kind.

Gerard Heneghan, a student of Glenamaddy Community School, was been selected from among hundreds of young volunteers from across the country and recognised for the initiative, effort and impact demonstrated during their volunteer service.

He was honoured at the Pramerica Spirit of Community awards ceremony, which was held at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

Gerard was presented with a silver medallion and €500 for a charity of his choice.
