X-ray fiasco at Tuam Health Centre

 A CLAUSE in a contract for Tuam’s new multi-million-euro Primary Care Centre means the HSE can’t locate a planned new x-ray facility in the state-of-the-art building, officially opened last year by Health Minister Simon Harris.
So as not to lose the much-needed diagnostics unit, the HSE West is faced with no choice but to locate the x-ray unit in the old Tuam health clinic – the building that was vacated by community health services to relocate to the one-stop health service Primary Care Centre.
The Tuam Herald understands that the way the contract was drawn up relates to a bundle of Primary Care Centres tendered at the same time and is likely to prevent any additional or similar services being added to those centres around the country also.
