MEASURES to protect motorists from straying horses along the N84 Headford Road are to be considered after a number of serious accidents in the area in recent months.

A mother and her teenage daughter were taken to hospital in the most recent incident when their car struck a horse near the Carrowbrowne halting site in the early hours of January 17 as they were making their way to UHG for a separate matter.

A young man also escaped serious injury when his car struck a horse as he was travelling to work at the same stretch of road some weeks previous.
