Daylight robberies at Ballyglunin and Athenry houses

THIEVES broke into a family home in Laraghmore, Ballyglunin, on Friday afternoon between 1pm and 3pm.

In a real case of daylight robbery, the culprits got in through an open upstairs window.
A substantial amount of jewellery was stolen, including a gold wedding band, a gold engagement ring with two large and two small diamonds, two gold Claddagh rings, and a 9 Ct gold watch.
The Crime Unit at Galway Garda Station is asking anyone who saw anything unusual in the area to contact them. Garda Jason Kelly is investigating.
On the same afternoon a house in Belville, Athenry was broken into between 2 and 3pm. A rear window was smashed and the home ransacked.
A white gold ring with diamond band and other personal items were taken. A black car was seen in the area at the time.
If anyone noticed suspicious activity in the area during this time or has information on a black car which may have been involved, please contact Athenry Gardai, 091 844016, where Garda Alan Maher is investigating.
The Gardai ask the public not to buy jewellery in unusual circumstances, and to contact their local Garda Station if they are suspicious of property being sold.
