New wing opens at Athenry Western Alzheimers centre

A NEW wing has been officially opened at the Western Alzheimers residential centre in Athenry.

The additional three bedrooms and laundry and storage facilities were made possible through the €230,000 fundraised by Boston Scientific employees who worked with the charity for two years.
Pat Holmes, CEO, Western Alzheimers says the extension will allow services to be offered to even more families in the West of Ireland.
“Our residential facility in Athenry is a home away from home for many families around Galway and in the West of Ireland; our range of services offer essential respite to family members who may be full or part time carers to those with Alzheimer’s disease. The Boston Wing will enable us to offer this support to even more families in the West of Ireland and we would like to sincerely thank the employees in Boston Scientific for making the Boston Wing a reality through their hard work and fundraising efforts.”
