Young Corrandulla man dies in road collision

GARDAI are appealing for witnesses following a fatal car crash between Tuam and Dunmore last night (Monday).

A 21-year-old male driver died in the two-car collision which occurred at 8.30pm in the townland of Carrowmhuineagh, Dunmore, a few miles on the Tuam side of the N83.

His name has not yet been officially released but it's understood he was from the Corrandulla area.

A 21-year-old man who was a passenger in the car with him received minor injuries.

A two-year-old girl and her grandparents who were travelling in the other car received minor injuries. The 74-year-old grandfather was driving accompanied by his 70-year-old wife.

The section of the N83 has been closed since last night but gardai say it is expected to re-open around lunchtime.
