SPORTING success has reached new heights this year at St Cuan’s, Castleblakeney, with 39 of its 328 students representing Galway across hurling, camogie, football and ladies football in a variety of competitions and age groups.

With All-Ireland heroes Cathal and Padraig Mannion among the teaching staff at the school, along with Galway senior camogie player Noreen Coen, it’s not hard to see where the students find their inspiration and motivation to claim the coveted maroon jersey.

Such sporting excellence is reflected in the classroom with a quarter of all last year’s Leaving Cert students attaining 500 points and over in their Leaving Cert exams.
