Five women went in, only four came out

By Bernie Ni Fhlathartha

Last year I read The Dry by Jane Harper and loved it. It was an international best seller but RTE’s Ryan Tubridy admitted recently he didn’t enjoy it or get it at all and couldn’t understand what the hype was about.
I liked it more than enough to not have a second thought as I purchased her second book, Force of Nature, on the cover of which the author is described as the ‘new Queen of crime’ and I wouldn’t argue.
I loved the premise of a corporate team-building exercise taking place in the Bush where five women go hiking but only four return.
Straight away the writer draws you into the intrigue and you almost imagine yourself out there with them hacking their way through scrub when they wander off the trail, feeling the cold of the night air when temperatures drop and the bitchiness between the women. It’s all too real.
