Over 1,500 enquiries at Knock Marriage Bureau
WITH approximately 1,000 phone enquiries and 580 in writing during the past year, the Knock Marriage Bureau has now gone hi-tech with the launch of its website knockmarriagebureau.com last weekend. While the number of people seeking partners in life via the Knock Marriage Bureau remains high the number of marriages last year was ten, which is on a par with previous years.[private] The bureau has issued its 45th annual report which highlights that 187 people have applied for membership in 2012, 98 men and 89 women. In the 25 - 45 age group 69 men applied and in the 46 - 75 age group 29 applied. 66 women in the 25 - 45 age group and 23 in the 46 - 75 age group also applied for membership last year. Since its foundation in 1968 Knock marriage introductions has been a big success with 910 marriages to its credit. For many years the late Fr Michael Keane was at the helm and the current director is Fr Joseph Cooney who was administrator in the Tuam parish for many years before moving to Ballyhaunis as PP where he retired in 2011. Fr Cooney now lives in Knock. He says the addition of a website should encourage more people to use the services of the bureau and he added that those involved look forward to the future and helping people find suitable marriage partners. â€Å“We assure all applicants of confidentiality. They will be treated with courtesy and kindness and every effort will be made to facilitate them,â€Â says Fr Cooney.[/private]
