Lots of live music in Galway Harbour for Race Week

THIS Race Week the Galway Harbour on Dock Road in the city will be transformed into an all encompassing entertainment village for families, music lovers and party goers alike as the inaugural Galway Race Week Carnival makes its debut.From Thursday, July 28 to Sunday 31 expect everything you need for a great family day out with a funfair and 110 ft ferris wheel, outdoor DJ, food stalls and entertainment area. At night the big top marquee will transform to entertain crowds with live bands each night and a bar on site.The fantastic line-up includes The Bogus Pogues on Thursday while the innovative Inish Turk Beg Sessions will bring their eclectic blend of traditional and rock â€Ëœn' roll to the stage on Friday.Adopted Galwegians, The Stunning will definitely be a band to see on Saturday night. Tickets for The Stunning cost €15.The night time concerts will have a strict over 18s policy and doors will open at 6 pm with concerts starting at 8 pm. Tickets are available from www.ticketmaster.ie.HorslipsTo wrap up Race Week, Horslips will play their first gig in the city for 31 years.'Race Week in Galway is always great fun,' says Horslips' fiddle, mandolin and concertina player Charles O'Connor. 'We have great memories of Seapoint and the Hangar back in the day, so we're looking forward to a high energy night.'It's a busy month for the band as they go on to headline a Celtic festival in Sion in Switzerland on August 4 before returning for an open-air gig in Leopardstown on August 11.
