Go for a run on Christmas Day — make it your GOAL
A FINAL REMINDER of the GOAL Mile. Run or walk it this Christmas Day at one of three Galway venues: Tuam Rugby Club; at Ballinasloe, the Garbally grounds (Scoil Mhuire entrance) from 12.00 noon to 1.00 p.m. or in the city at the NUIG sports grounds, Dangan, Newcastle. The GOAL Mile is held in villages, towns and cities all over Ireland every Christmas and is one of the country's biggest and longest-running annual fundraising events. The concept is simple: people run or walk a mile and donate whatever they can afford to GOAL on the day. Thanks to GOAL Mile organisers and participants, millions have been raised to support GOAL's work in the developing world since the first Mile was held in 1982. In Tuam on Christmas Day, GOAL'S Tom and Teresa Maher will welcome all who turn up between 12.00 noon and 1.00 o'clock at Tuam Rugby Club, Garraun Park, Dublin Road. Herald Sport encourages all readers to play their part in making this wonderful fundraiser a success for Tom and Teresa Maher, and GOAL.
