Long road back for former champions Castlegar and Turloughmore

By JIM CARNEY Castlegar ...........................1-16 Turloughmore ...................2-13 (match drawn) Ger Farragher to the rescue for Cashel' Into the second half, Castlegar midfielders Máirtín Cullinane and Kevin Brady powered their way into the game, and right half-forward Enda Concannon was consistently good in both halves. But it was the introduction of Gerard Farragher, less than 100 per cent fit because of knee ligament trouble, that was the catalyst for his team's revival, hitting seven points (two from play) in the final twenty minutes of the match. His freetaking was magnificent, as always. Well done, also, to the young Turloughmore scoring ace Ronan Badger; he got a goal chance in the second half and didn't need to think twice about it: a flashing strike and the net was dancing. All credit to both sides for honest effort and commitment. Times may change but Cashel' vs Turlough' in the County Cup is always worth watching. Castlegar: T. Grogan; S. Connell, P. O'Flynn, P.
