A MAN who discussed his littering habits on facebook will have more to talk about this week after a Judge imposed a fine of €2,000 and ordered him to pay €500 in expenses for dumping three bags of domestic rubbish illegally.[private] Judge Geoffrey Browne was told at Tuam Court on Tuesday by Community Warden Ms Joyce that she found three bags of waste dumped behind an ESB sub-station at Woodfield, Tuam on September 11 last. When the contents of the bags were examined she found numerous personal documents with the defendant's name and address on them. These included a TV licence, medical card documentation and several invoices and they all related the defendant, Kevin Quinn of 7 Meadow Court, Tuam. The Warden said a littering fine had been hand delivered to Quinn. Judge Browne was told that the maximum fine in a case such at this is €3,000. He was also told that Quinn had discussed his dumping habits on facebook. €1,000 fine Another two defendantd who shared an address at 24 Country Meadows, Tuam, had fines of €1,000 and were ordered to pay €500 in expenses to Galway Co Council when both were convicted of illegally dumping at Tuam Railway Station. The Court was told that Community Wardens discovered between 15 and 20 bags of domestic rubbish dumped at the location. Among the disposable nappies and other household waste the wardens found an ESB bill addressed to Sharon Danagher. She was fined €500 and ordered to pay €250 in expenses. PJ Doherty was also fined €500 and ordered to pay €250 in expenses when evidence was produced to show personal documents belonging to him were also found in the illegally dumped waste. Judge Browne was informed that a community cleanâ€â€œup of the Railways Station was underway at the time of the dumping. He said the fines imposed in these cases could have been more but there was no way to prove that the defendants were responsible for all the bags dumped.[/private]
