Two All-Ireland Fleadh titles for Abbey's set dancers
[gallery link='file' columns='4' orderby='rand'] ABBEYKNOCKMOY'S set dancers won two All-Ireland titles at the Fleadh Cheoil in Co Cavan the weekend before last. In the 12-15 category, the dancers beat off stiff opposition against seven groups to take the title and win the Rose Kelly Perpetual Shield. The winning team comprised of Lorna Devane, Eilis Dempsey, Julie McHugh, Zoe Conneely, Claire Quinn, Kayleigh Boyle, Eva Higgins and Emma Carr. [private] In the Senior Ladies category, the Abbeyknockmoy dancers performed the North Roscommon Set made up of a reel, jig and polka. The new set went down a treat at the Fleadh Cheoil and proved to be a popular choice with all three judges. Representing Abbeyknockmoy were Geraldine Flesk, Marlene McHugh, Laura Potter, Lisa Mannion, Ciara McKeogh McCormack, Avril Mannion, Michelle Warren and Hannah Kielty. In the under-12 category a young group of dancers performed the Roscommon Lancers and took second place, being pipped for the title by Lissycasey, Co. Clare. In the 15-18 category, Abbeyknockmoy took third place. [/private]
