New BPW club starts in Tuam

By SIOBHÃÂN HOLLIMAN A NEW club for local business and professional women was officially launched in Tuam last week and a variety of events are planned for throughout the year. BPW Tuam aims to allow women to meet new friends, share experiences and develop new skills. The clubâ€â„¢s first president is local woman Caroline Garvey, who has been a very active member of BPW Galway since she moved back to Tuam five years ago. She hopes the Tuam club will prove beneficial for professional and businesswomen in the area. The launch was attended by the National President of BPW Ireland, Galwayâ€â„¢s Carmen Taheny and it was also confirmed that this prestigious role would be passed on to Caroline Garvey sometime in 2014. The Tuam club will be part of BPW International, which has become one of the most influential international networks of business and professional women, with affiliates in 80 countries and in the five continents. There are already many women from the North Galway region who are members of BPW Galway and itâ€â„¢s hoped that the local club will prove popular with women in the area from a professional and social aspect. BPW Tuam will be holding its first meeting in the Corralea Court Hotel on Thursday, March 14 and women are invited to attend and find out more about the group and how it can benefit them. Women interested in getting involved are welcome to attend events or contact new members officer Sally Anne Flanagan by email sallyanne. flanagan@gmail. com.
