Glen' girls honoured for Junior Cert business marks
THREE Glenamaddy girls were celebrating further academic success this week when they were presented with certificates of achievement from NUI Galway based on their Junior Cert results. Twin sisters Nicola and Louise Ward along with their classmate Siobhan Murphy all recorded an A in their honours business studies exam last year, and were among a group of 260 students from throughout Connacht to receive the honour. This is the third year NUI Galway's College of Business, Public Policy and Law has presented these awards to students from over 55 individual schools. The presentations, in association with the Business Studies Teachers Association of Ireland (BSTAI), were made at a special ceremony at the university, to which teachers and parents were invited. 'NUI Galway's international success is built on a strong and enduring relationship with its hinterland and therefore we see these awards as very important,' said Professor Nollaig MacCongáil, Registrar and Vice-President, who presented the students with their certificates. 'I congratulate all the students on their achievement and also the work of teachers in helping students achieve their potential. I hope I will also have the pleasure of meeting many of these students again in NUI Galway in the future on one of our business or commerce programmes.' Jennie Harrington, BSTAI President said; 'The BSTAI is delighted to continue its partnership with NUI Galway in hosting this ceremony which celebrates and recognises academic excellence in Business Studies at a young age. I am confident many of today's award recipients will build successful careers in the business world.'
