Sean Keane for City concert
CAHERLISTRANE singer Sean Keane will be presenting his unique style of Traditional Irish Folk singing laced with more than a hint of Country at a concert in Galwayâ€â„¢s Town Hall Theatre on this Friday May 17. Since childhood, as a member of the famous musical family, the Keanes of Caherlistrane, Sean has been widely recognised as one of Irelandâ€â„¢s best voices. He won 13 All-Ireland awards for singing and flute playing before reaching the age of 16. He worked with the Keane Family during his youth, then joined bands such as Shegui, Reel Union and Arcady before going solo in 1998. Having been voted for four years as â€ËœBest Male Irish Folk Singerâ€â„¢ in various polls here, he also received the â€ËœBest Male Folkâ€â„¢ award from the London Irish World Awards two years ago and was nominated for the Meteor Awards in Ireland. He has consistently drawn excellent reviews, including being dubbed as â€Ëœthe fastest rising star on the Irish music sceneâ€â„¢ by the London Independent newspaper, â€Ëœthe best Folk singer of his generationâ€â„¢ by Q Magazine and â€Ëœthe voice of the West of Ireland...thrillingly expressiveâ€â„¢ by the Irish Times. Live reviews of concerts have been equally complimentary, all noting the unique voice and sheer entertainment value of an evening with Sean Keane. The show on Friday night will be Seanâ€â„¢s first concert in almost five years at the Town Hall Theatre and early booking is advised.
