Son of former Tuam publican dies in Canada

TORONTO publican Thomas (Tom) Keane who passed away last Friday (November 23) was the son of well-known Tuam publican, grocer and butcher Miko Keane, who ran a very successful business at High Street, Tuam where the Brogue Bar now operates. His passing was mentioned in the Toronto Star newspaper on Monday and he was described as 'a true gentleman' by former Tuam publican Padraic McHugh who purchased the Tuam premises from the Keane family and ran it for many years as The Town Hall Tavern.[private] 'He was a great friend to all who know him and his friends in Tuam always looked forward to meeting him when he came home to visit.
