Over €1 million investment in troubled Glenamaddy bakery secures jobs

The interim examinership was removed from Brogan's Bakery, Glenamaddy last Friday by Mr Justice Peter Kelly after two Mayo businessmen invested in the business. In a statement issued by Aidan Fanning and Kevin O'Connor, the businessmen confirm that they have put up over €1 million and they say this will secure the future of the bakery and the 80-plus employees.[private] A joint statement, on behalf of all the shareholders, is expected to be issued in the next week or two. The Glenamaddy bakery is a major supplier of muffins to the Tesco chain in the UK and has also been doing business with Lidl in recent times. Muffins from the bakery are also being sold as far away as Australia.[/private]
