Looking back 25 years later, Ian Doyle, the man who made those three brilliant saves in the 1988 county final, says it was a great time for the team, eight of whom had won their first SFC medals in 1984. 'There was a strong bond in that group,' Ian recalls. 'We had played a lot of under-age football together and even though some of us might have been rivals in colleges competitions, first and foremost we were friends. We grew up together and except for the lads working and living away or in universities, we'd meet each other around the town every day of the year. 'It was a really great time for us and it'll be very special to live it all again at the Club Social on Saturday night, while at the same time we love to have this annual club night-out to show all our present-day teams that the players of the past are supporting them and are behind them all the way.'
