Thank you letter for Big Dig a matter of courtesy
A LOCAL councillor remains unapologetic for his proposal to write to the contractors who carried out work on Tuam's Big Dig, thanking them for the job they did. Cllr Tom Reilly said he had no apologies to make in suggesting Tuam Town Council puts its appreciation to Coffeys in writing, despite an angry reaction from traders in the town.[/private] Cllr Reilly said the experience could have been far worse and that despite the disruption caused, the €30m project was a major achievement for Tuam. 'Coffey's co-operated with this council at all times and had a great working relationship with this council, which I think should be acknowledged in a letter,' he told the November meeting. 'It could have been so much worse, you only have to look to the example of the Eyre Square renovation some years back to see how badly these things can happen.' Mayor of Tuam Cllr Eamonn Kitt agreed that the letter should be sent as a basic matter of courtesy.[private]
