Pop-up shop saved Lions Food Appeal in Covid year

IT could have been a very bad year for the Tuam Lions Club-St Vincent de Paul Food Appeal, but thanks to generous donors and a pop-up shop on Bishop Street, the appeal was a success again at Christmas 2020.
Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, it was not possible to have Lions members present at two of the three usual venues, O’Toole’s SuperValu and Murphy’s Centra.
There was, however, sufficient space to staff the traditional stand at Joyce’s Supermarket in Tuam Shopping Centre.
Thanks to the generosity of Pete and Claire Finnerty, the premises at Bishop Street formerly occupied by DigiPix was converted into a pop-up shop where donors could leave food or cash contributions.
