A long way from Kilgevrin, Milltown to Kona, Hawaii

NEIL FEERICK, 38-year-old son of Miko Feerick and Ann (Varley), brother of Alan, Cyril and John from Milltown, took part recently in the World Championship Ironman Triathlon in Hawaii. It was 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile cycle and 26.2 mile run. Neil completed it in 10 ½ hours. 'It was an amazing event,' said his mother Ann and aunt Bernie who travelled with Neil and his wife Maureen to Hawaii. It was the trip of a lifetime in 36℃ heat and the most beautiful place on the planet. Neil remarked that the lava fields reminded him of all the bogs that he worked in before he emigrated. Neil has a son, Joseph, and they love to come back to Kilgevrin as often as possible. They live in San Diego, California.
