CELTIC Flames are young musicians from North Galway aided by some of more mature years. The ensemble will light up Claregalway when they perform an eclectic mix of traditional Irish music song and dance fused with a contemporary idiom, on Friday, November 2 in the Claregalway Hotel. Celtic Flames is a group of 25 musicians singers and dancers from the North Galway area who, between them, use 15 different musical instruments to deliver a unique and vibrant sound. Their versatile dancers perform a dynamic range of Irish dancing including light, heavy, set, sean nos and twig dancing while a diverse variety of singers perform a seductive hybrid of modern and traditional classics and ballads. Tomas Mannion, group leader says, 'We try to mix a moody blend of ancient and modern music styles and infuse it all with a contemporary feel. But we never stray too far from our traditional roots and the live show should appeal to people of all ages who have an interest in the ballads and tunes of Ireland, old and new.'
