Get your ass to the Donkey Derby!

EVEN DONKEYS will be going to the dogs in Galway next week. The 3rd annual Donkey Derby will take place on the evening of Ladies Day, Thursday August 2nd at Galway Greyhound track. This very popular and hugely entertaining event is a fundraiser for the Irish Injured Jockeys' Fund in association with the North Galway Hunt. Six donkeys will battle it out for first place, ridden by a number of National Hunt stars. In the last two years, Paul and Nina Carberry, Davy Condon, Davy Russell, Alain Cawley (from Craughwell), Roger Loughran and Robbie McNamara enthusiastically supported this very special event. In last year's Race Week donkey derby, Nina Carberry romped to victory in a welter of excitement. Tickets this year are €10 and include access to the greyhound track, a race card and entry into a €500 sweepstake drawn on the night. Please support; call 087 1523582, drop in to the Bunch of Grapes Pub, Cross Street, Galway city or check out the North Galway Hunt Supporters' Facebook page.
