New Tuam diocesan magazine will spread good news
THE Tuam diocesan magazine, New Dawn, which was launched last week, will spread the good news of vibrant life in all parishes of the archdiocese. The editor, Fr Fintan Monahan, said it was a happy coincidence that the magazine was launched on June 21, when the Gospel reading was of salt and light.[private] While the people were the salt of the earth, more light was needed on the good news that was being reported from all over the archdiocese. He said that despite the growth in electronic media, it was felt there was an important place for the printed workd. He quoted an old saying, 'The worst ink survives the best of memory', and said that the magazine, left around homes, schools or waiting rooms might inspire people to pick it up and read. The magazine is an initiative of the communications group of the Diocesan Pastoral Council (DPC) and DPC chairman Sean Staunton commented that they hoped people would take ownership of the magazine, respond to it and contribute to it. Archbishop Michael Neary, who launched New Dawn in the McWilliam Park Hotel, Claremorris, said it was a vehicle to demonstrate, expand, and reflect the faith journeys of the people on their pilgrim path. The magazine will be available in churches and parish centres throughout the archdiocese.[/private]
