Start of an era for Headford's This Nachez
HEADFORD alternative rock band This Nachez must be one of the hardest working bands in the business. Constantly gigging, recording and writing new material, it has maintained a steady flow of creativity and has continued to produce high-quality and ground-breaking music since the release of its debut record, Thought Control Commander Thing in 2009. Comprising of Stephen Monaghan (guitar/vocals), David Donoghue (bass), Fiachra Cradock (guitar) and Eimhin Cradock (drums), the band has just completed the recording of their long-awaited second album entitled Era, which gets its exclusive launch in the band's second home, Campbell's Tavern, Cloughanover, on Saturday June 9. The band is extremely excited about the launch and remains poised to produce a performance for its ever-growing fan base to remember. Era has been in the making for almost two years now and the band is energised by finally seeing the fruits of their intense and hard labour. This Nachez has been gathering momentum over the past year with stellar performances in Galway and Dublin and now has an album 'in the can' that they are all very proud of. The members focus on precision and energy in their live shows but recently have had more of a carefree element meandering through their music as their playing matures and they really begin to find their sound. 'Groove is much more to the fore than it used to be,' says drummer ÉimhÃÂn Cradock. 'Initially we wrote songs that were choppy and technical, nowadays we still have those same technical bits but we're figuring out ways to make them groove more. I think you can hear this coming through in the new material, big time.' The main creative energy that inspired the album was the concept of looking within for answers in the outside world. Polarity, geometry, synchronicity and a general inquisitiveness have provided the inspiration for this set of songs, according to the band. The band's sound has always evolved and grown with every song and gig and it has become a well-oiled machine with every part in working order. Campbell's Tavern is no doubt the spiritual home of this band and it has put on its best performances here through the years. Admission is €10 and this includes a copy of the new album. - Darragh O'Dea.
