New double album from Moylough's guitar hero

MOYLOUGH native Albert Niland has established a fan base spread across Europe but has come back to Galway to launch his new album. After wintering at home in North Galway he began work on the album with Brian Masterson of Windmill Lane Studio fame. Brian has recorded with many of the biggest names in the music industry including U2, Kate Bush and The Rolling Stones. The double album of 24 songs will be officially launched at a gig in the Roisín Dubh, Galway on Sunday, July 3. Albert will forever be remembered for his haunting version of Wuthering Heights but he started out in the clubs of San Francisco and went on to spend three years as the guitarist for Riverdance. After he left the hit show, he immersed himself in Andalucia, in the world of gypsy flamenco, and returned with an album and a sound heavily influenced by the passionate flamenco guitar. With the help and encouragement of Freddie White, who performed on the album with him, Albert released Dirty Day to critical acclaim. On the strength of the album he was invited on to the then Tom Dunne Show on Today fm where he performed the acoustic version of Wuthering Heights for the first time. Gaining the respect of his peers, Albert was invited to be a guest at the two biggest reunions in Irish music history, Planxty in 2004 and Moving Hearts in 2006. Performing and recording a live album at the legendary Paradiso in Amsterdam, Albert quickly established a loyal fanbase on the continent. 2009 saw him perform sell-out shows regularly at L'Essaion Theatre in Paris, as well as receiving invites to play at the prestigious Naked Song festival in Holland and the International Guitar Festival in France. Don't miss the opportunity to hear him perform his new material live this Sunday.
