Deep regret at death of Pauline Ryan

THERE was deep regret and genuine sadness over a wide area at the death of Pauline Ryan, Lissadel Drive, Tuam on Friday. A native of Doocastle in north Mayo, she lived in Tuam for many years with her husband Seamus and children Nolita, Karena, Paula and James. She was active in many areas of local life, including traditional music and set dancing, but she was best known for her golfing prowess. She was Lady Captain of Tuam Golf Club last year, and golfing colleagues from many parts of the country came to pay their respects. Up to her death she was a valued member of the staff of The Tuam Herald where she is greatly missed by her friends and colleagues. Following requiem Mass in Tuam Cathedral on Sunday, she was laid to rest in Kilbannon Cemetery. Obituary next week.
