Caltra's cross-party hooley for politicians

POLITICAL differences will be set aside this weekend when Caltra will honour two of its politicians, Tanaiste and Labour party leader Eamon Gilmore and Fianna Fail's Michael Kitt who is the new Leas Ceann Comhairle. On Sunday night the people of Caltra, including relatives of the two men, are expected to be in attendance in large numbers to honour two of their own. Presentations will be made  in Keary's lounge at 10 pm. Eamonn Gilmore was born in the village of Lislea, Caltra and although his parents are deceased he is a regular visitor to his native area and to his homestead. He has many relatives in the area. Political affiliations will be cast aside for this night as the new Tanaiste will be honoured as well as Deputy Michael Kitt, who has recently been selected as Leas Ceann Comhairle of the Dail. The presentation night is being led by the local GAA clubs and other organisations in the East Galway village. Bonfires will blaze along the roads around Ahascragh from 9.45 onwards into the village of Caltra for the presentation for the two men from their own people.
