Blondie and Bell X1 for Galway Arts Festival
BLONDIE and Bell X1 will be among the top attractions at this year's Galway Arts Festival Big Top, which runs from July 11 to 24. Pop icons Blondie make a welcome return to Galway following one of the most memorable gigs in festival history when the band performed here in 2008. With a string of worldwide hits including Heart of Glass, Hanging on the Telephone, Call Me, Atomic, Denis Denis, One Way or Another and Maria, Blondie created a soundtrack for much of the 70s, 80s and 90s. Inducted into the prestigious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006, Blondie emerged as one of the great icons of New York's celebrated late 1970's new wave punk scene and Debbie Harry went from the pages of Punk magazine to being on the cover of just about every mainstream publication on the newsstands. Galway audiences will get to see Blondie on Wednesday, July 20. On Saturday, July 16, Galway Arts Festival and RóisÃÂn Dubh present Bell X1, one of the hottest bands on the Irish music scene, with a reputation as amazing live performers. Their highly anticipated, forthcoming album Bloodless Coup is due for release early next month and is the follow-up to the hugely successful Blue Lights on the Runway, which included the massive hit single The Great Defector. The band's latest single Velcro is already a huge radio hit and has been generating an international buzz for the band. Tickets are now on sale from www.galwayartsfestival.com and www.ticketmaster.ie.
