Chart success for Clifden's singing teacher
CLIFDEN teacher Seanie Vaughan has hit the charts with his debut album, which entered Ireland's Top 100 Artists' Album Chart at No.42. He also came in at No.5 in the Indie Individual Artist Albums Chart. Seanie is a teacher, based in Dublin, and his album is a mix of Folk and Rock. According to the singer the album is a musical journey that uncovers many of the musical influences that Seanie has had over the years. The melodies and lyrics will appeal to a wide audience and music fans who like David Gray, Damien Rice, Paddy Casey, Mundy and Ocean Colour Scene may be interested in the songs of Seanie Vaughan. The album is attractively packaged and there is a very comprehensive booklet, which contains the songwords as well as some interesting photos, many of them from Connemara. Seanie says in the sleeve notes that he was influenced into becoming a singer while working in the family pub in Clifden. He also credits his grandmother with giving him the inspiration to write some of the songs. There are a number of special guests on the album including the Dublin String Quartet. The album is selling well in both Dublin and Seanie's native Galway but how high it goes in the Irish charts remains to be seen. As he is also touring with a band this may be beneficial in introducing this new artist to potential fans around the country. A billboard advertising campaign at 50 locations across Dublin should also help sales, unless the billboards are swamped by all the General Election posters surrounding them! â€â€ T.G.
