Night of virtuoso trad in Galway

INTERNATIONALLY acclaimed traditional fiddler, Kevin Burke, is making a very special appearance in Galway on Thursday, October 21. Kevin, who has received rave reviews from The Irish Times and other leading publications for his album Across the Black River, plays at the Crane bar on Dominick Street for a session that is not to be missed. The virtuoso of traditional violin has teamed up once again with composer and musician Cal Scott for a second duo album Suite. The nine-track recording includes inspired arrangements of favourites such as Dunmore Lasses and The Rabbit's Ear. The album has been described as 'pure listening pleasure' and blends tradition with an original twist. Irish favourites and freshly-penned pieces combine to produce a seamless listening experience. The album features guest appearances from fresh, new, traditional act Beoga and also from some of America's finest classical musicians. Kevin will also perform at the Sligo Live Sessions festival over the October Bank Holiday weekend and has a line-up of gigs in Dublin, Cork and Clare. Tickets to the Galway show are €15 and available by phoning 091-587419. Further details are available on www.thecranebar.com.
