FROM failing to make the cut at county underage and schools football to captaining Galway seniors into the white heat of the most anticipated Connacht Senior Football Championship tie with Mayo for some 20 years, the trajectory of Damien Comer's football career has been far from conventional.
Hailing from the townland of Kilcahill, just off the N17 between Galway and Tuam and a short hop up the road from Corrandrum National School, Comer was by his own admission too small to make teams during his school days.
