M'tbellew-Moylough win in U-20 football

THE modest yet enthusiastic crowd of well-wrapped supporters that braved the bitterly cold elements in Tuam Stadium on Easter Monday were treated to a hugely entertaining contest which ended with Mountbellew-Moylough prevailing after extra-time over a valiant Claregalway side in the inaugural North Board U-20 Championship final.

Claregalway, on the strength of recent underage and minor success, were justifiably favoured by many to go all the way in the North Board this year. But a very impressive Mountbellew-Moylough side backboned by senior players John Daly and Colin Murray, alongside physically imposing midfielders Oran O’Reilly and Ronan Griffin, simply refused to roll over.
