ON an afternoon of milestones at Tuam Stadium, Claregalway carved out a significant piece of history of their own, not only winning their first-ever Galway Minor A Football Championship but doing it with plenty of substance and style.

The club has taken giant strides at underage level in recent times, winning three U-16 titles on the bounce, and arrived into Sunday's final on the back of their third North Board minor title in five seasons.
Moycullen, in 2013, and Salthill-Knocknacarra, last year, ended their hopes of building on those achievements but they justified their mantle as favourites and achieved their objective and got a measure of revenge on the seasiders in what was a hugely entertaining match.
