Corofin complete 'drive for five'

COROFIN'S 19th county title came in emphatic fashion, and for the 16th time in 26 years, the Frank Fox Cup will reside in the parish for the winter months.

With the drive-for-five now in the rear-view mirror, they are now also five adrift of pace-setters Tuam Stars on the roll of honour list.
Sunday's 2-14 to 0-10 victory over Mountbellew-Moylough means Corofin have won the last five county finals since 2013 by margins of 12, 18, 10, 4 and 10 points respectively.
They were pushed by both Salthill-Knocknacarra and Annaghdown in the championship going into Sunday's game. Mountbellew-Moylough were given a very real chance of dethroning them as a result, but their team's manager Kevin O'Brien felt they had proven some doubters wrong with their performance on Sunday.
“A lot of people questioned this team. I heard people saying they were finished, but I think they answered a lot of questions today,” said O'Brien.
