U-21 hurlers bid to defy odds

SEMPLE STADIUM, Thurles will be the venue on Saturday evening as the Galway U-21 hurlers make their championship bow against a hotly-fancied Limerick side.

It's been a successful summer for Galway hurling so far, and Tony Ward's charges will be out to emulate the county's minor and senior teams who have already booked September final berths.
Galway were runners-up in the competition in 2016. It was Ward's first season at the helm and the Sarsfields clubman saw his side break a five-year losing streak with the defeat of Dublin after extra-time, 0-21 to 0-19, at the semi-final stage.
