Ballinrobe CS find extra to outlast Pres Athenry

TEMPERATURES hit sub-zero in Bekan for Monday night’s Connacht Post Primary Senior B Championship final but it failed to unduly bother the large crowd that gathered for what was a gripping match that ebbed one way, then the other before Ballinrobe CS finally shrugged off Pres Athenry’s best efforts.
Extra-time was required and right into the 85th minute of an absorbing tussle, Pres were straining every sinew in search of a score that would turn the tide their way. In the end, it never arrived and a jubilant Ballinrobe Community School, who were that little bit more clinical in front of goal, left the Connacht GAA Centre with the Richie Bell Memorial Cup in their possession for the first time since 1999.
