Molloy the hero as Galway outlast Dublin in extra-time

A GRIPPING All-Ireland U-21 Hurling Championship semi-final went the distance, but Galway stayed cool under pressure to secure a hugely satisfying extra-time win over Dublin.
Tony Ward’s gutsy team demonstrated character and class in the closing stages to defeat the Leinster champions, who were eventually beaten by a couple of late frees from Brian Molloy.
The Galway captain led by example delivering an enterprising and effective display for the Tribesmen, who now face a star-studded Waterford outfit in the decider on September 10 in Thurles.
Considering the depth of talent in the Waterford group at this level it will be a seriously demanding test for Galway.
Unheralded entering Saturday’s clash the Tribesmen showed an admirable willingness to graft during an error-strewn if always interesting match.
