Corofin get out of jail against tuam stars

At Tuam Stadium

THE MAGNITUDE of the roar that went up from the Corofin fans when Gary Sice curled over a point in the first minute of injury time on Saturday gave a sense of the level of relief that was palpable from the All-Ireland club champions supporters, whose side had just survived an almighty scare from a Tuam Stars outfit who will look back on this gripping Senior Football Championship quarter-final with plenty of regrets.
Seven minutes earlier it had been the Stars’ contingent in Tuam Stadium who were in fine voice when Gary O’Donnell pounced on a rebound from Cormac McWalter’s effort to drill the ball to the net. The underdogs, who had been playing for 18 minutes with an extra man after Kevin Murphy’s dismissal, were suddenly three points to the good and on the verge of a ground-breaking victory.
