Galway fc take a giant step towards league of ireland promotion

NOT THERE yet ... but Galway’s new soccer club, in their first season, are tantalisingly close to promotion from the League of Ireland First Division to the Premier Division.
After a hard-fought, highly entertaining 2-2 draw with Wexford Youths at Eamonn  Deacy Park, Terryland last Sunday, Galway FC have qualified for a home and away play-off with one of Dublin’s top clubs, Shelbourne — first leg in Galway this Friday evening at 7.45.
Second leg at Tolka Park, Dublin on Friday week, October 24th at 8.00 p.m.
In the event of the scores being level on aggregate after the completion of the second leg, 30 minutes of extra-time will be played. If the scores are still level, a penalty shoot-out will decide who advances to play the team that finishes 11th in the Premier Division — for a place in the 2015 Premier Division.
The away goals rule does not apply in the play-off games.
Shelbourne finished second in the First Division and Galway finished third.
