Organised gangs lead to big rise in tool thefts

THE biggest rise in crime in Galway for the first six months of the year have been in thefts from vehicles — mostly tools from vans.

There were 100 thefts from cars and vans this year already compared to 70 last year — an increase of 43 per cent.
