Council spending a pretty penny on Tuam’s broken Superloo

SPENDING a penny in Tuam’s controversial Superloo is proving difficult despite an allocation of over €22,000 of public funds for the out of commission facility.

The public convenience, located at the Shambles car park in the town, was installed over ten years ago but has not caught the public imagination over that time.
Complaints about the cost of the facility, which at one stage was costing almost €40,000 a year, led to calls for it to be removed. However, council officials have confirmed that the company that provided it do not want it back.
