Council seek customer lists from waste companies to thwart illegal dumpers

HOUSEHOLDERS who are not disposing of their waste through licensed refuse collectors will be identified in a new bid by Galway County Council to tackle illegal dumping.

In the latest attempt to eradicate illegal dumping throughout the county, members of the council have voted to seek information from licensed waste disposal operators regarding their customer lists.
The motion, proposed by Cllr Joe Byrne, proposes that these customer lists will then be cross checked with the council’s own register of households registered for local property tax.
