Schools introduce mobile phone bans for students

SCHOOLS throughout north Galway are introducing mobile phone bans in a bid to curb overuse of smartphones amongst students.

A total ban is in place in Coláiste Bhaile Chláir, with a partial ban in place in Presentation College Athenry, where only senior students are allowed to have phones and they can only be used during break time.
Schools in Dunmore, Headford and Tuam allow all students to use their phones during break time but some allow the use of phones in class for academic purposes.
